stephen recently went out of town for the weekend and I was busy spending time with family that happened to be in town. I also had some down time, which of course, I filled with home shopping and decorating. I started with scott's antique market but much to my surprise, was a fruitless trip. I decided to hit homegoods, at home, and kirkland's after the scott's buzzkill.
I love our guest room, but there are some things that are still in need of a little TLC. our lamps had to go, they were old ikea lamps that my cat had pretty much broken from knocking off the nightstands so many times. I picked up some new lamps at homegoods, which are just beautiful. I also scored a shaggy rug and new wall art. our guest room is definitely on its way to becoming a cozy little haven home-away-from-home kind of guest room.
I also wanted a rug to set the chaise on, since it has been kind of awkwardly sitting on the carpet with a lamp and unhemmed curtains. yes, hemming the curtains is still on the to-do list.
at home has a huge selection of rugs and I picked this shag rug up that matches perfectly. I love the latte beige color.
our first guest to test the rug... approved!
lastly, I honestly hated the art that we had temporarily in our guest room. I had a custom framed piece of martini artwork in here because it had nowhere else to call home in our new place. while the piece itself isn't bad, it definitely didn't fit the cozy sanctuary guest room vibe that I want to create.
I found this piece on sale at kirkland's - then I added a fall wreath with some sparkly pumpkins to avoid becoming too farmhouse-esqe in this room. the room also needs some bedside mirrors and something to go over the headboard, but we are well on our way!
I really love decorating this guest room and I hope to eventually get to a place where I can add little seasonal tidbits here and there as the holidays change. this fall wreath is the first step!
