CPA celebration

after two long years of working full time in public accounting (aka way more than 40-hour work weeks), studying, and test taking - stephen passed all four parts of the CPA just a few weeks ago! if that doesn't call for a celebration, I don't know what does. let's just say I'd been planning this soiree for months before he actually passed. while he was studying, I was picking out invitations online. I was willing him to pass mentally in the only way I knew how... frivolous party planning with complete neglect to reality.

I wanted this party to be casual and fun on top of everything, I wanted it to feel equal parts huge sigh of relief and popping bottles. in my mind, this occasion called for BBQ, booze, and backyard games.

we had cornhole, life-size jenga, and bocce ball to entertain the crowd as well as plenty of wine, beer, and my pretty-much-famous sangria. I only say that because my friend casey has made this recipe multiple times, which totally goes to my head and makes me call it a famous recipe. I even made a festive ice ring for the punch bowl, coming to the blog soon.

we catered lots of yummy food from BBQ 1 in east cobb - brisket, pulled chicken, pulled pork, sausage, macaroni and cheese, potato salad, baked beans and green beans. I didn't want anyone to walk away hungry and the team at BBQ 1 was great to work with in terms of ordering and setup. of course, I had to add a few vegetarian options including caprese skewers, veggies, hummus, and pimento cheese.

as for sweets, we had an assortment of chocolate covered strawberries (stephen loves these), cake pops (vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet) and brownies from soho bakery in sandy springs. I could eat a million of these cake pops! my sister also made funfetti and peanut butter cookies which were delicious.

we had the best time celebrating with family and friends and I'm so proud of stephen for all his hard work, persistence, and positivity over the past two years. peace out non-stop-studying-no-life-stephen, onward and upward for us!

  3. CONGRATS!! Passing the CPA is no joke!

That all looks awesome! The food and the fun! We host a big party at our house every year and have something really similar (we even did BBQ one time!). Bocce ball is always a hit with everyone. As well as corn hole! I need to try the life-size Jenga one. That sounds like fun! :)

    1. how fun that you host an annual party! we actually borrowed the bocce and life size jenga from friends (they made the jenga pieces themselves!) - we will definitely invest in them ourselves once we buy a house. it's the perfect way to spend a saturday with friends!
