big news... we're engaged!

last weekend, we headed down to 30a for some R&R after stephen's crazy february busy season and two year CPA mission. if you read regularly, you know that he just passed his CPA and we've been celebrating lately with family and friends.

and now, there's even more reason to celebrate!

this photo is totally real, not staged! it had been raining all day and finally the sun peaked out, so stephen suggested a walk on the beach. I wasn't suspicious because we frequently take walks on the beach. I also suggested we bring a blanket and he said we wouldn't need one. so I figured it was a typical walk. he did mention something about changing our clothes but I ignored that, thus the t-shirts and norts. I thoroughly enjoy slumming it on vacation.

after walking down the beach a ways and turning back, he suggested we get a photo by the sunset. which again, is pretty typical so I wasn't that suspicious. of course, there was no one on the beach except for a group of adorable kids playing volleyball. these kids were max age 10 or 12. I didn't have a lot of confidence in them to take our picture but I wasn't that invested in this photo anyway (not yet at least....).

and then of course, everything happened so quickly and stephen was down on one knee and I was crying! the crazy part is that these kids got it all - video, pictures, the works. we should've paid them for their work, it was that good. later, when we listened closely to the video, you can hear them chattering to themselves, "do you think she said yes?" "yea, she said yes, she took the ring" "what do you think? she took the ring and then said no? duh. idiot."

these kids were hilarious- at the time they were asking these questions, stephen had already picked me up and we had been hugging for at least a full minute with my legs wrapped around his waist. so obviously, I said yes. HAHA kids really do say the funniest things. then they asked us if we were out of college yet. which obviously made the night even better #lookingyoung.

we had a fun night facetiming our family and friends to share the news as the sun went down. afterward we toasted over dinner and champagne to the beginning of the rest of our lives!
