fashion friday: ponchos, capes, ruanas oh my!

happy friday, everyone! on a somber note, can you believe it's been 14 years since 9/11/01? for so many of us, the memory of that day is seared into our brains forever. take a minute this morning to remember the lives lost, the heroic first responders, and all the families affected on that tragic day. it is truly a day that will never be forgotten.

on a much lighter this post inspired by a $1500 burberry cape that I love but can not bring myself to buy? why, yes, yes it is. there are a million others ways I should spend (ahem, save) that kind of money but I can't get that darn cape and its beautiful print variations out of my head. especially the animal jacquard print. you probably already know what I'm referring to since it seems to be everywhere this season with tons of celebs sporting monogrammed versions. to help overcome my obsession, I've rounded up my favorite lower priced options... pair with a black or white shirt, jeans, boots, and a pumpkin spice latte, and voila! it's fall.

echo colorblock reversible ruana, nordstrom $58
modena double plaid reversible cape, nordstrom $48
ella moss fringe trim poncho, nordstrom $268
woven heart southwestern wrap, nordstrom $48

over labor day, I bought a camel and black plaid cape at a boutique in seaside, florida. it was like 100 degrees and all of shops had their fall items out, which obviously worked since I likely wouldn't have wanted to buy any more summer items. I can't wait to wear my cape once it cools down just a bit more.

in all my research online, nordstrom definitely had the best options for capes and ponchos. has tons of different patterns and colors and price points. happy shopping!
