the ultimate graduation gift guide

this year, we have the pleasure of attending two graduations - both a high school graduation for my sister and a college graduation for stephen's sister [war eagle!]. my sister is venturing off to college this fall  [go dawgs!] and stephen's sister will stay one more year to complete her master's. I really can't believe my youngest sister is going off to college, in fact, I even had a little meltdown over it. some days, most days, I really feel that life is going by way too quickly and it freaks me out... but before I get too ahead of myself...

whether your graduate is finishing high school, undergrad, or beyond, there's sure to be a perfect present on this list - from $10 to $400! be sure to click 'read more' for a few more splurge-worthy gifts not pictured below.

a luggage set including a carry-on rollerboard and a larger checked size rollerboard will serve graduates for years to come as they rack up those frequent flyer miles!

and lastly....
a pet is a great way to bridge the gap from college to real life. since college days are spent with friends all day every day, there's rarely a time to be lonely. however, once college is over and reality settles in, graduates can really miss those relationships especially when coupled with the responsibilities of working and paying bills. I adopted my first cat right after undergrad and am very thankful that she's been along for the ride with me. obviously, I don't suggest buying graduates a pet without first ensuring they're ready and willing for the additional responsibility. I also recommend a cat versus a dog if the new graduate's job will require travel.

if you're attending graduations this season, I hope they serve as pause points. to celebrate and be grateful for hard work and ambition. to be happy for a milestone in many lives, not just that of the graduates. to be accepting of the unknown as graduation marks a life change for many and not everyone is comfortable with the transition. although graduation may be scary or sad for some, it may be exciting and overdue for others. while parents or siblings may be sad to see a loved one go off to college, pause to be happy for the graduate and their bright future.

and if all else fails, have a cocktail and cry your eyes out! cheers to the class of 2015.
