insanity max:30 workout review

the time has come, i'm almostttt finished with insanity max:30! since this is my second time to complete an insanity workout program, I wanted to write an advice post for anyone considering it. obviously, I'm not an expert and don't have any medical/health training so take it for what it is: my experience with both the insanity and insanity max:30 programs - advice, tips, expectations...

spring cleaning // closet organization

recently I added a few investment pieces to my closet and that means a few pieces need to come out! I don't necessarily subscribe to 1 piece in = 1 piece out but I am starting to realize the pieces that I truly don't wear need to go in order to make room for more versatile or inspiring items and to free up space in my crammed closet.

don't worry... I'm keeping the cat

spring cleaning 101 // purge motivation
1. if it... hasn't been worn in the past year, it goes. unless there's some valid sentimental reason. it's just taking up space and makes getting dressed all the more complicated.

2. if it... needs to be altered and you'd rather buy something new than spend the money for alterations, it goes. [this coat would be perfect if it didn't have bell sleeves; however, the cost to alter the sleeves equals or exceeds the cost of a new coat. adios bell sleeve coat!]

sexy chicken parmesan

happy saturday! we had a long day of tennis today and it's been a long week for stephen with tax season, he hasn't had a home cooked meal in a week since he's been staying at the office so late and ordering in. needless to say, he really wanted to eat at home today.

last weekend, we had chicken parmesan with friends on valentine's day... it was so good, stephen asked me to make it the next week. the last time I had chicken parmesan was at least three years ago and I certainly didn't have a tried and true recipe. I did some pin-search [pinterest research], made some modifications, and ended up with this 20 minute chicken parmesan. once the chicken is cooked and everything is plated, you end up with a pretty sexy meal / looks + tastes amazing and really isn't that difficult or time intensive... double win! definitely try this at home, you won't be disappointed.

top 5 wardrobe investments

woohoo my tax refund is in the bank... I normally save every penny, but this year, I needed to spruce a few things up in my wardrobe. all black everything, here are my top investment pieces that every woman needs. of course, I already had these things but as time goes on, these pieces need to be edited. my favorite jeans are starting to look worn, my black pants don't fit as well and are uncomfortable.

what I'm saying is that as long as you feel confident in these 5 key pieces in your wardrobe - you'll find that getting dressed in the morning is much easier and you'll feel more confident. also, as I wrote this post, I came across the 'five piece french wardrobe' which seems right up my alley... definitely going to research that topic more.

chocolate lava love cake

last week, I mentioned that the boyfriend doesn't like overly sweet treats. the next day, he said he really wanted chocolate lava cake for valentine's day, go figure. I've seen the crockpot lava cake several times on pinterest and I decided to give it a shot.

blueberry streusel muffins

roses are red. berries are blue. muffins are sweet. so are you!

ok, I had to do it especially since there's no pink or red coloring in this valentine's treat. stephen's been working extra late due to tax season and he's not a huge fan of sweets. these muffins are not too sugary and have a very natural, lightly sweet taste from the blueberries (there's only 1/2 c. white sugar in the recipe). if you like a more sugary taste, I would add more sugar or vanilla extract. enjoy!

bar cart transformation

on the weekends, I normally have two conflicting agendas: do nothing at all AND get a lot done. be lazy AND productive. this weekend was no exception - I transformed an outdoor flower planter to an indoor bar cart... all without leaving the house. win!

atlanta's top 5 mexican restaurants

I had the idea for this post while working out. go figure... while busting my booty doing insanity max:30, I'm dreaming of mexican food. I once read, "in texas after working out, we don't reach for powerade. we quench our thirst with a big ol' margarita." blame it on those texas roots.

I should preface this topic by saying I'm pretty choosy when it comes to mexican food, while the ambiance doesn't have to be out of this world - the food better be! so after years of exploring, here are my top places for mexican food in atlanta. you'll notice I left at least one wildly 'popular' place off this list... just remember the kindergarten adage 'what is popular is not always right and what is right is not always popular.' all joking aside, I've done a lot of 'research' in this topic. now read up and enjoy!
